January 1, 1918. WITH reference to your communication of the 14th ultimo relative to the export of codeine and other opium alkaloids to Japan, I am instructed by Lord Emmott to transmit herewith copy of a notice which will appear in the next issue of the "Board of Trade Journal."

Note respecting Exports to Japan of Morphia, Cocaine, and other similar substances. ·

The Director of the War Trade Department announces that the notice published on p. 66 of the "Board of Trade Journal" of the 11th October, 1917, under which certificates as therein mentioned are required to be sent with applications for licences for the export from the United Kingdom to Japan of morphia or cocaine is now extended to all shipments to Japan from the United Kingdom of codeine and other opium alkaloids.
